Stewart BC to Smithers BC,

Up early and off after breakfast to Stewart.  Well the trip to Stewart was amazing.  We saw several bears along the road-all black bears.

One big glacier (Bear Glacier) was right along the road. Then drove on across the border to Hyder Alaska. (No border patrol going into Hyder, but had one coming back into Canada). I guess US doesn't patrol that area but there isn't anywhere to go from there.  We drove up to Salmon Glacier.  WOW!  It was about an hour drive up this dirt road but it was worth every bump.  Just amazing.  It was beautifully sunny so the sun on the glacier was great.  It was at one point covering most of Alaska and BC.  It still looked fairly large to me.

After leaving there we stopped in a small sandwich shop for lunch in big metropolitan Stewart, not.  🌾the wildflowers along the road are just beautiful.  We left there and finished our drive in the rain 💦to Smithers BC

We are staying at Logpile Lodge tonight.  It is up in the mountains above Smithers.  Hoping for sun tomorrow to be able to take in the views.  In some places we are higher than the clouds. Beautiful bed and breakfast.  It is quite chilly so it was nice to see a roaring fire in the gathering room.  We enjoyed a glass of wine 🍷before we went into town for dinner.  Breakfast is at 8.

We highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you are ever in the area.  Host and Hostess are great people and made us feel so welcome.  It is a lovely place.
