Hinton to Fort Nelson

Beautiful when we got up. We traveled from Hinton to Fort Nelson.  Our first stop out of Hinton was Dawson Creek which is the staart of the Alcan Highway.  Fort Nelson was final destination for the evening.

Dawson Creek is a very quaint town which show alot of old buildings that were evident of the olden time and the start of the Alcan Highway,
This is the sign as you come into town where the visitors center.  Alot of people were here taking pictures.  Below is the actual start of the highway.  It is in the middle of the downtown area.

We had lunch at a small cafe, the Baked Cafe, here that was recommended on Trip Advisior and by the visitors center,  The food was great and the big sugar cookie was even better.

We started out after lunch and headed to Fort Nelson.  It  is pretty much a nothing town,  a lot of things closed up. The Fort Nelson Visitors Center is very nice and fairly new.  Lady working was very help with more information and road delays ahead Lakeview Inn and Suites, a nice hotel, comfortable and clean.  Not many places to eat and not much to do.  It looks like there is not much industry so rather impoverished.

Some scenery along the way.

.

On to Whitehorse tomorrow. Yukon Territory here we come.
