Golden to Jasper and Icefields Parkway

After a great nights sleep we awoke to cloudy skies and light rain, which has stayed with us through the morning.  We back tracked to Lake Louise where we got in the Icefields Parkway.

I just can't begin to describe how awesome the scenery is.  We are continually shaking our heads in wonder and amazement.  Our first stop was at Herbert Lake.  There were bear warning all, over but we didn't see a one๐Ÿ˜Œ.  There are small hanging glaciers on the mountain sides which are surprising easy to spot

We have had off and on rain with clouds hanging over the mountains which has made for a different kind of beautiful.  Crowfoot glacier came next then on to the Columbia ice fields. Then we came upon the wild animal alert.  Parked cars on the road and sure enough a black bear eating away on the grass and berries.

Dave said it was a female but No cubs in sight.  We climbed a steep upgrade and got to an area and this is what we A beautiful view from valley below, pictures later.

The ice fields discovery center was beautiful and you could see it the glacier from there along with the moving discovery vehicles on the ice.  It was raining pretty hard when got here and pretty chilly so we opted not to take the tour.  You can see glaciers all along this section that are a part of the Columbia ice fields.

From there the road took us through moose country, but I guess they were elsewhere.  ๐Ÿ˜ž.  Next was Sumwapta Falls.  I walked down the the first viewing platform and Dave continued on.

The sun has come out and the temperature up๐Ÿ˜Š  Made another stop at Alabaster falls.  The falls along the route are beautiful and once we get pictures from Dave's camera I will post them with captions.

Jasper is quite small so we just drove through and stopped at World Famous Bear Claw Bakery.  We had a raspberry white chocolate scone and a date bar-yum!

Then we drove out to Malaigne Lake and then on to Hinton. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Hinton

No disappointments yet!  The weather has been pretty good. So nice temperature wise. I have only needed my sweater.  Its off to the AlCan Highway in the am.
