Smithers to Prince George then to Whistler

On to Prince George and Whistler

I can't begin to say enough about the Logpile Lodge Bed and Breakfast.  It was a fantastic experience and breakfast was great.  It is in a beautiful setting up in the mountains from Smithers.  It was just too bad that it was raining.  Chris and Barbara were so gracious.  Highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you are ever in the area.

Unfortunately for us it rained all day and about half way to Prince George the rain droplets start to get bigger and hit the windshield kind of slushy like and then it started to snow.  Great big fat flakes.

Unbelievable!


We sort of skipped a couple of sights along the way since it was cold and rainy.  There has been major flooding in northern BC where we were a couple of weeks ago.  Bridges and roads have been washed out.  Guess we were very fortunate with our plans.

Prince George was an okay place, but the rain made it just a stop over.  We got up in morning and headed down the road to toward Whistler.  Williams Lake was the next stop-  it is the log cabin homes center.  We saw sites where they actually assemble the cabins and then take them apart to be delivered and then reassembled on site. Beautiful. Barns and homes all made of logs.

We stopped along the highway to visit this display of log cabins.

 We traveled south until we got to the Sea to Sky Highway.  Then it was so beautiful.  The scenery was rugged, almost dessert like.

 Tall mountains and valleys. There were very green areas on top of mountain plateau  where they had watered.  Strange.  Never did figure that out.  This was all part of a First Nations Reserve.  Then we descended down to the town of Lillooet.  We stopped at a roadside pull out to check out the canyon below and watch the train climb out and there was a deer right there.  So cool.

The climb back up the mountain to Whistler was so vividly green and so starkly different than the other side.  It was amazing.  We came into Whistler and checked into our hotel .

 Tonight we are staying at the Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler.  What a beautiful place.  Great room and view thanks to an upgrade by the front desk when we checked in.
