Fort Nelson, British Columbia to Whitehorse, Yukon

We left wonderful Fort Nelson around 8 and headed out to Whitehorse.  Much better scenery today as we got closer to the Northern Rockies.  We drove through several very small town  until we stopped at the this wonderful little place that had the best little cinnamon rolls I have ever had.  They were warm with lots of melted frosting and cinnamon.  Yum.  So good.  The little store is actually the registration center for a little campgroud.  There were signs all along the way about them and they were even mentioned in the Milepost ( a great guide if you go this way).

Stomach full and bladders emptied we headed on to Watson Lake.  Watson lake is known for its signpost forest and it is unbelievable.

Then onto Whitehorse where we spent the night.  Whitehorse is where 2/3 of the population lives in the whole of the Yukon.  A reference is that Collierville is bigger than the whole of the Yukon.  So even though it is a big city it really isn't.  It is a gold rush town and it looks it in the style of the building and hotels.  We stayed at a hotel that was on top of a bar.  Bare necessities but clean.  Food is not cheap but at least the dollar is strong.  We made lunches at different places with our own stuff.

After a pretty rough night's sleep we changed our money back to US dollars as we headed to Alaska. My advice here is to stay in 4 star or better hotels in this area.
