Tromsø is known as the Gateway to the Arctic. This town s known for the largest concentration of wooden houses and has become quite the metropolitan area with large modern buildings. It lies on an island with homes and businesses on the island as well as the mainland. The mainland is connected by a bridge and a new underwater tunnel. It is home to the northern most botanical garden and the northern most brewery. Here we took a tour that included the Arctic Cathedral https://www.ishavskatedralen.no/en/the-arctic-cathedral/ which is “stunning structure of soaring white rooflines and triangular peaks”. It has been compared to the Sydney Opera House which is a stretch in my book having seen both. We were fortunate to have a beautiful warm sunny day and the church sits high enough the view were fantastic. We also traversed through the underwater tunnel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troms%C3%B8

The evening leaving Tromsø we sailed through a stunning fjord with beautiful vistas and small villages. It is so strange to be awake at 11 pm and have the sun still shining.
